Music, narration, effects, and shots combine to create a story. The script is the heart of the story. Sometimes the script is well thought out and the editor only needs to follow the directions given by the producer. Other times
it is the editor that gets to work with the shots and clips
to piece the story together. In both cases the decisions of where, when, and how a clip should be used are thought through.

Recording description of the collected footage will help create the story. Producers
use this information to make decisions on what shots to use
